Antique Reclaimed Limestone · Architectural Stone

Gates, Kitchens, Stairs & Hearths

Woven in Stone

Before a visitor notices the views or the furnishings, they feel the stone. Ancient Surfaces curated one continuous story here in reclaimed limestone, beginning at an entry portal composed from gently worn blocks and finished with soft carvings that catch the afternoon light. Inside, the kitchen becomes the sculpted heart of the house: a limestone hood carved by hand with pilasters and a deep crown frames the range rather than merely covering it, while a shallow barrel vault of limestone voussoirs ties the cooking area to the breakfast island. Just outside, reclaimed limestone pavers with brushed faces and softened edges turn the patio into an outdoor room that darkens beautifully in the rain and dries back to a soft matte. The stair rises in solid limestone treads with eased nosings against black iron, cool underfoot and built to carry decades of movement. At the top of the house, a reclaimed limestone mantel with a patterned frieze gives the day a calm landing. Read together, these interventions are one composition rather than a set of parts.
